Anderson County Probate Court

 

Mission Statement
Anderson County Probate Court will provide prompt, reliable, and courteous service to the public.

General Information
Probate court has exclusive original jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to Estates of decedents; protection of minors and incapacitated adults; Trusts; issuance of marriage licenses, involuntary commitment for mental illness, alcoholism, drug addiction, and active pulmonary tuberculosis; and wrongful death and survival action settlements.

Marriage License Requirements:

Fees are $46 (cash only). Without parental consent, both parties must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Applicants must be able to provide a driver’s license or birth certificate. The bride and groom must have social security cards. A female must be at least sixteen (16) years of age, and a male must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. If the parties are under eighteen (18) years of age, the parents’ consent is required. The parents must be able to produce a certified copy of the birth certificate of the child along with a picture I. D. of the parent to prove parentage.

There is a 24-hour waiting period from the time the application is made until the time the license is picked up.
